X-Light Case Mod Review

Introduction
Be it at a LAN tournament, a XBOX link session or a party one of the best ways to make your XBOX stand out from the
crowd is to modify it. Adding a new case, LED's and lights is essential if you want your XBOX to make others bow to
its superiority. There are many ways to go about modding your XBOX and for starters it would be a good idea to get
some sort of translucent case (not required, but recommended) and once this is done you can start adding lighting
effects. This is where Xtender’s X-Light comes into play.
Xtender’s X-Light is a thin glowing cable that can be shaped and twisted into any design to suite your needs. Most
commonly people will use the X-Light to outline the top X design of the XBOX’s case, but you aren’t limited to this
overused layout. The cable itself is so flexible you can twist and turn it around the DVD drive, hard drive, power
supply or the side panels of the XBOX case. The quality of the design is left in your hands.

Installation Manual (Online)
The contents of the package include the X-Light and that’s it. Additionally, Mod-Chip
has a tendency to provide unparalleled support for their products and has created their own installation manual for the
device which you can download from their page.
Installation
Mod-Chip.com’s guide lists many places you can
grab the necessary 5v point you will need for each light. Each light is attached to a small electric circuit that has
a switch on it. When the switch is on the X-Light will flash off and on. Leaving the switch off will give you a
constant glow.
To install the X-Light all you have to do is to solder both the positive and negative cables to the various 5v and
ground points on the motherboard. Once this is done you can attach the light to your case in any way you deem fit.
The most used design (which I did with both XBOX systems) was to make a rather large X on top of the machine. I also
wired an X-Light around the bottom of both systems.
Conclusion
Some might wonder why the X-Light’s simply don’t come with a Molex splitter to hijack the power from either the DVD or
Hard Drives. Personally, I believe that adding more of those huge connectors will take up much needed space and
decrease the airflow inside your XBOX. Overall the product does what it is supposed to do and looks great!
Positives
Super Easy Installation
Unlimited Design Possibilities
Overall Product Durability
